The electric submersible pump (ESP) is widely used in non-self-injection high-yield wells, high water-cut wells and offshore oil fields because of its simple equipment structure, high efficiency, large displacement, and high degree of automation. One of the good artificial lift methods is the main means of intensive mining in the middle and late stages of oil exploration.

An electric submersible pumping system consists of  surface part, middle part and downhole ESP. Surface part mainly includes transformer, switchboard, junction box, wellhead and surface cable. Middle part is power cable and cable extension. Downhole part  includes electric submergible motor, protector, gas separator and multi-stage centrifugal pump.
